Period 1950s detached house loft conversion

This 4 bedroom house in a conservation area had a large roof space which the clients wanted to convert. They had spoken to another firm about putting a staircase in a location that would have compromised an existing bedroom. We designed a solution that allowed the staircase to continue in it’s current location up to the loft space, while giving the balcony the option to be incorporated into the landing.

The project is now complete and the new en-suite bedroom is a great space for guests to stay over, with views over the Horsell preservation area.

MB Architecture prepared the design, a planning package for submission to the local authority planning department, obtained planning approval, prepared a building regulations package with structural engineering that was approved first time, and advised the client on structural changes and procurement and visited during the project construction period.
